Bholaram Shibal Kharkia College, Maithon came into its existence in the year 1966 under the glare of pious motivation of the members of a well known business house of Chirkunda and with the active role of D.V.C. Maithon. The heartfelt regards to Late Raghunath Agarwalla of Maithon Ceramic limited and Late Kishore Lal Agarwalla of Vally Refractories Ltd, the two industrialists of the house, cannot be forgotten by the people of this locality as the donor and founder of the college. Their inspiration is still alive which makes the college capable to achieve a good name. With their blessings, the college has become one of the leading and prestigious institutions of VINOBA BHAVE UNIVERSITY, Hazaribag to day. The college is situated on the holy land of ?Kalyaneswari? just beside the crossing of Maithon- Kumardhubi road and by- pass G.T. Road, it is well connected with nearby township and the Railway station ?Kumardhubi?. The college is at a distance of about 165 Kilometer from the University headquater, Hazaribagh. The college was converted into a constituent unit and brought under the Ranchi University, Ranchi in 1980. After the creation of Vinoba Bhave University with headquarter at Hazaribagh in 1992, the college has become constituent unit of the University.
