Bhawabhuti Mahavidyalaya (BMV) was established in 1969 in the then Bhandara District (now Gondia District) of Maharashtra State by the Bhawabhuti Shikshan Sanstha. It is affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University. Its aim is to empower the educationally backward and disadvantaged rural population by imparting general liberal education in Arts, Commerce and Science subjects with stress on value of humanism, secularism and Nationalism. It offers U.G. programs namely B.A., B.Com. , B.Sc. and P.G. programs in Science (Botany and Zoology). The College also offers one year Certificate course in Bio Diversity Resources Management under U.G.C. career Oriented Program at 1st year U.G. level. The College is recognized by University Grants Commission under section 2(f) and 12 (b). Recently , the college has been recognized by the parent university as a center for higher learning and research in the subjects Botany and Zoology. The College owns a campus of 10.04 acres. There are more than 1100 students admitted in UG and PG programs. Most students are from Backward Communities like OBC, SC, ST, SBC and VJ/NT etc. The Unit cost of education in the year 2013-2014 was Rs.10934/- including salary and Rs.1115/- excluding salary component. The college has a total strength of 30 permanent teachers, 26 clock hour basis Teachers and 20 non teaching staff. The Institution has identified "physical training for entry in defense and police services" and "Coaching for entry in services (competitive examinations)" as its best practices. The institution, i.e. its staff, is committed to maintain atmosphere conducive for academic pursuits.
