Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan College of Teacher Education

The proposed college of Teacher Education (B.Ed. college) is owned and managed by Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan, an educational and charitable society functioning on a no profit, no loss basis, registered under the T.C Societies Registration Act of 1955 with operational jurisdiction over the state of Kerala. The society was registered with Reg. No.1979. It is affiliated to Vidya Bharathi All India Educational Society with Head Quarters in Lucknow. Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan has its working head quarters in Kallekkad, Palakkad, in Pirayiri Panchayat of Palakkad within 8 km from the District Collectorate, Palakkad on the side of Palakkad ? Shornur Road. The campus has an extent of over 25 acres of land. Vyasa Vidya Peethom Senior Secondary School is functioning in the campus, which has ownership of 5 acres of land in its name. This CBSE Senior Secondary School, one of the prestigious schools in Palakkad district has been functioning from 1979 onwards. It has Sisuvatika, LP, UP, High School and higher Secondary sections very good infrastructural facilities like play ground, Kalari (Yoga center, well furnished class rooms well equipped Laboratories separate Hostels for boys and girls etc. A team of 75 dedicated teaching staff and a number of supporting staff and inspiring team of management, manage the affairs of the school. There is a temple and prayer hall within the campus. Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan is running a training and orientation center at Kallekkad for pre-primary teachers of Vidya Nikethan schools numbering about 430 in different parts of Kerala. It is also running training centers at Thodupuzha and Kozhikode for the benefit of teachers up to higher secondary schools. The Management of Bharatheeya Vidya Nikethan proposes to start a Graduate Teacher Education college at Kallekkad campus and has allotted and extent of 1.75 acres of land exclusively for the proposed college. The college has bought permission from National Council for Teacher Education and academic affiliation from the University of Calicut. The proposal aims to commence the course during the academic year 2008-09. The college will be strictly adhering to the norms and standards prescribed from time to time by National Council for Teacher Education, Government of Kerala, and University of Calicut. The admission will be as per the policy of the State Government, form the list of candidates declared eligible for admission for B.Ed. course through an entrance test conducted by the Stage Entrance Commission. The Vidya Nikethan Society is managed by an executive committee selected from its general council. The committee is being elected every 3 years.
