Bhai Asa Singh Girls College

The college is a grant-in-aid college and is affiliated to the Punjabi University Patiala in Punjab. It is located in an educationally backward area and runs Certificate / Diploma Course in Arts at +2 level; UG Course in Humanities with eight subjects and P.G.D.C.A as a self-financing course which has been since discontinued. These courses equip the students to appear in competitive examinations and seeking admission in the postgraduate courses. The total number of students is 313.There are 11 full time faculty members and 3part-time teachers. The teaching staff is appointed according to Punjabi-University rules and guide lines given by the government. The temporary staff is paid out of management funds. The college can not appoint any staff over and above the sanctioned strength. The ratio of teaching to non-teaching staff is 2:1. Located in an educationally backward area, the college is spread over 6 acres of land. It has a four-storeyed building with modern amenities and is equipped with adequate physical facilities to run the educational programmes and administrative functions efficiently. The growth of the infrastructure keeps pace with the academic growth of the institution and is well maintained by the college management out of its own resources . Optimal use of the college infrastructure is made as per working schedule and No external agency is allowed to use the academic facilities. There is a central library with a fairly large number of books (10725) and remains open for seven hours daily. There is a book-bank facility and the needy students are issued books for the whole year. There is an advisory committee for the library (its working to be probed) . Although equipped with the facility of Reprography and Catalogue, it is yet to be computerizes for various purposes.
