Located in the lap of Barunabanta Hills amidst sprawling beauty of busteous nature, Baba Bhairabananda Mahavidyalaya was carved out a niche for itself in the annals of educational institutions in the coastal districts of Odisha. It is affiliated to the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Odisha and to the Utkal University. It imparts Education in +2 Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational and Degree(+3 Course) in Arts, Science and Commerce with Hons teaching facilities in Oriya, English, History, Economics, Political Science, Sociology, Education, Anthropology in Arts and Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany and Zoology in Science & Accounting,Management, Financial Management in Commerce, There are provisions for N.C.C., N.S.S., Red Cross, Central Library, Seminar Library, Boys Hostel, Girls' Hostel, Gymnasium, Computer Laboratory, IGNOU Study Center, NIOS, Cooperative Society, Canteen etc. as supporting services to enhance the physical, moral and academic standard of the students.The College opened with the subjects of English, M.I.L.(Oriya), Political Science, History, Economics, Oriya(Optional) & about 256 students took admission in the very opening session. The college received Govt. concurrence for I.A. in the year 1977
