AWARE, acronym for ?Action for Welfare and Awakening in Rural Environment? is an Organization dedicated to serving the poorest of poor and the most oppressed communities, namely, the tribals, the harijans, women and the socio-economically depressed groups in the Indian society. AWARE is recognised for its unparalleled contribution to National Development. AWARE and its Founder Chairman Sri. Madhavanji received 32 National and International Awards for his selfless and dedicated service to the less privileged sections of the society. He is perhaps the only Indian who received Awards from 4 Presidents of India, Shri. Gynai Zail Singh, Dr. Shankar Dayal Sarma, Shri. K. R. Narayanan, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He also received Awards from four Governors in India, Smt. Kumudben Joshi, Dr. K. C. Alexander, Sri. Shushil Kumar Shinde and Dr. N. D. Tiwari. In the year 2009, Sri. P. K. S. Madhavan was awarded the Kerala Ratna Award which was presented by Hon?ble Dr. K. G. Balakrishnan, Hon. Chief Justice of India. Shri. Madhavan also received Awards from the Dalai Lama, the Speaker of Lok Sabha and is the only Asian and Indian who received honours in Belgium along with two Nobel Laureates Dr. Nelson Mandela and Mr. Rigoberto Menchu.
