Audiology and Speech Language Pathology at Medical College

Prevalence of speech and hearing problems is very high in developing countries like India. However, there is a dearth of services available for identification and management of individuals with communication disorders. Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University decided to fulfill the long standing deficiency of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists in Maharashtra, by starting an undergraduate program in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology, BASLP. The School of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology was started in August 2006, in this educational city of Pune. The University started the post graduate program, MASLP and Ph.D. in Audiology and Ph.D. in Speech- Language Pathology from the year 2010-11 to meet the demand for trained post graduate professionals in various set ups. Increasing the number of professionals with post graduate qualifications helps in: strengthening the training programs of the University & also the country improving the quality of services provided to individuals with speech language and hearing problems development of tools in the regional language for evaluation and management of individuals with speech, language and hearing problems All the courses conducted by the college are recognized by Rehabilitation Council of India.
