Annai Velankanni College

Annai Velankanni College, Tholayavattam, Kanyakumari District is owned by ?Friends of Kottar? and administered by Annai Velankanni College Administrative Society (Reg. No. 25/89), a body registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act 1975. The College is under the religious jurisdiction of the Latin Catholic Bishop of Kottar. The College is primarily intended to provide educational opportunities to the Latin Catholics of the region in accordance with the rights of the minority community guaranteed under the Constitution of our country. However, the college is open to all, irrespective of religion, caste, community or region. The main objective of the college is to make a significant contribution to education, the improvement of which is a primary need of our country. In this endeavour, the college aims to train students to high academic standards and also to prepare them for the role of future leaders dedicated in the Spirit of Christ, to the service of their fellowmen and the welfare of the country, particularly of the rural and underdeveloped areas. Emphasis, therefore, is made in introducing job oriented and other courses relevant to local needs. In the formation of students, the college intends to give greater importance to the development of personal and intellectual integrity and to the application of ethical and humanitarian values in life. The College is dedicated to the Mother of God, the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title ?Annai Velankanni? greatly venerated and widely honoured in this part of the country. The Management of the college is vested with committee constituted for that purpose in consultation with ?Friends of Kottar?.
