Vidya Pratishthan's School of Biotechnology

Vidya Pratishtan's School of Biotechnogy (VSBT) is a research organization situated in Baramati, 100 km away from Pune. Amongst all institutes and colleges which are imparting education in Biotechnology, VSBT emerges as the Sixth Best Institute in the country in private sector. (Source: Biospectrum, Aug. 2012). VSBT in Collaboration with Arts, science and Commerce College received fundling from DBT(Department of Biotechnology) Govt. of India under Star College Scheme 2009 onwards. VSBt ,the team took pioneering effort for University of Pune to initiate on the development of Biotechnology course degree course in 2001 then Graduate and Master Degree in 2002 and 2005 respectively. The Center is now recognized for Ph.D. programmes .The School has also initiated the B.Sc. degree course in Agriculture Biotechnology affiliated to Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri in 2009. Teaching and Learning method at VSBT includes activity based , direct instruction , thinking skills, inquiry and research models is an effective resource for teachers and students focusing on improved academic achievement and striving to meet new academic standards. These methods are applied in positive, supportive environments where there is recognition of the emotion, social and physical need of students and where individual strengths are recognized,nutured ,and developed. Scientists and the staff themselves have become in-house exports in biotechnology related practices which they share with their colleagues . The students are placed in well known industries and govt. recognized research institute. Students have excelled in most of the competitive exam with track record of 60% every year. 10 students featured in country's top 100 list. Students at VSBT are recipient of Tata fellowship through PICC with an average of 8 students qualifying for the last 7 years,KVPY,IISc,'Avishkar' at UOP and State level student research projects presentations. VSBT has developed strong and mutually beneficial National And International collaborations with Institutes and Industry through its full fledge operational Analytical Laboratories with a state-of-art infrastructure and instrumentation.
