Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal's College of Education

The founder of our mother institution, Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal Barshi, Dr.Karmveer Mamasaheb Jagdale was born on 4th Feb. 1904 at Bhikar Sarole Dist. Osmanabad (Maharashtra State). He completed his education upto fourth std. in Chare, his native place, upto VIIth std. in Barshi, his karmbhumi and upto matriculation in Northcot Prashala, Solapur. He intensely wished to get higher education but due to the poor economical condition and lack of educational facilities in nearby area he couldn?t complete his future education. So he accepted the job in Municipal Council, Barshi as a collection inspector on 13th June 1932. But dissatisfaction of his further education, he was always pinching him to do something for the children deprived of education. So he established Shivaji Boarding in Barshi on 9th August 1934. For the education of girls, he also started Bhartiya Balikashram on 30th Nov. 1947. In this way he made the provision of hostels for the students. Then he urged to provide educational facilities to the children in rural areas. So he opened primary, secondary schools and colleges in solapur and Osmanabad districts. Shivaji Boarding was changed into Shri Shivaji Shikshan Prasarak Mandal, Barshi on 28th Jan.1947. Karmveer Dr.Mamasaheb realized the need of giving medical services to poor people in reasonable rates. So he started Arogya Mandir on 4th Feb. on his birth anniversary in 1975 with 10 beds and small surgical unit. Poor people were getting medical facilities at reasonable rates by devoted and expert doctors. Now it is developed in different wings with advanced machineries. Throughout his life, he struggled for social, cultural and educational improvement of the society. He became the source of light to show the path for those who were languished in the darkness of ignorance, illiteracy and poverty. He dedicated his whole life for upliftment, welfare of the women, poor, oppressed people and their children. Therefore he got the place in the rank of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Mahatma Phule, Rajashashri Shahoo Maharaj, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, Shikshan Maharshi Bapuji Salunkhe and so on. Dr.B.A.M.U., Aurangabad and Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapith, Rahuri took notice of his pious work and awarded him D.Lit and D.Sc. degrees respectively. He used to look personally every thing. So when he was supervising the construction of Maharashtra High School on May 1950, he fell down from the wall of building and his right leg became weak. Due to over exertion he became the victim of paralysis on 21st July 1974. From that day he became weaker and weaker. He was struggling with death & unfortunate day rose on 30th May 1981 and our molder, beloved Mamasaheb breathed his last. But due to his outstanding, valuable, platonic social and educational work he has become immortal.
