Janab.Haji.Dr.K.V.Aboobacker is the founder Chairman of Kevi Educational Institutions at Salem, All these educational institutions are managed by Kevi Educational Trust, He is from Calicut, Kerala and is basically a Businessman, Planter and Philanthropist. He is in Salem for more than 40 years. His thirst to educate Poor Children in Salem Town made him to start a Primary School by name Tippu Islamia Primary School with the Co-operation of Salem Jamiya Masjid and Tippu Islamia Educational & Social Society in the year 1976. The Primary School had now grown up to an Aided High School with 1500 students of downtrodden families. To start with and realizing the need of the hour the Trust has started the Kevi Teacher Training Institute for Women at Salem in the academic year 2004, with the recognition of the SRC, NCTE, Bangalore in No: 1320.F.TN.ELE/938/SRO/NCTE/2004-2005/7153 Dt.09.09.2004 with an annual intake of 50 students. The Teacher Training Institute was approved by the Government of Tamil Nadu also. An additional intake of 50 students was granted by the SRC NCTE Bangalore in order APSO.1321.F.SRO/NCTE /TN-A1/2005-2006/2467 Dt.28.05.2005. The annual Intake is 100, from the academic year 2005-2006. As the absence of a B.Ed college exclusively for women was very much felt by the public of Salem, the Trust has started the 'Kevi Women's College of Education' for conducting B.Ed course from the academic year 2006. The SRC, NCTE, Bangalore has accorded recognition to B.Ed. Course in Order No. F.SRO/NCTE/APS04535/B.Ed./TN/2014-15/65359 Dt.29.05.2015 with an annual intake of 2 Units 100 students. and M.Ed Course from the academic year 2010. The SRC, NCTE, Bangalore has accorded recognition to M.Ed. Course in Order No. F.SRO/NCTE/APS09468/M.Ed./TN/2015/65321Dt.22.05.2015 with an annual intake of 1Units 50 students. The Kevi Educational Trust, Salem is conducting M.Ed Course also from the year 2010. with an annual intake of 35 students. The M.Ed course was approved by NCTE and Government of Tamil Nadu. and Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai in Lr.No.TNTEU/R/Affn./M.Ed(N)/2010-2011/562 Dated : 21.09.2010. The Kevi Women's College of Education was affiliated to Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University, Chennai as per Lr.No.TNTEU/R/Affln./contn/2009-2010/887 Dated 24.11.2009. The College Code No is 11813. All these Educational Institutions are located in a spacious multi-storeyed Building in a plinth area of 40,000 Sq.Ft. spread out in 8.54 Acres in Saminaickenpatti Village, Omalur Taluk, Salem District. The Colleges are located in a pollution free area in a Village atmosphere. There is abundant supply of water, through agricultural well and Bore well. There are well-equipped Psychology, Science, Computer, & Educational Technology Laboratories. A Good Language Lab to improve the skill of the students in English is set up with latest equipments. A Big Library is located in a carpet area of 1500Sq.Ft. with 9000 Books having hundreds of Titles which are very useful to all category of students including Research students. Indoor and Outdoor Games are available in the College to develop Physique of the Students. Yoga Classes are also conducted daily. 'Deeniat' Classes are conducted to the Muslim students daily for an hour. Arabic is also taught to write and read. Prayer facilities are available to the Muslim students. A good hygienic hostel is available for the students with utmost care by the management. A well maintained Canteen is available to cater the students & staff members in the college premises. Two College Buses are plying to transport the students & staff members from Salem Town to College.
