Maulana Mohammad Ali and Maulana Shaukat Ali in 1919 with the active support of Mahatma Gandhi The main objective of this organization was to represent the voice of the Indian Muslims in their resentment against the British rule and soon it became the chief instrument of opposition Khilafat House played a significant role in India?s freedom struggle; it was the beehive of Gandhiji?s activities in the early twenties After independence in 1947, the All-India Khilafat Committee was declared a public trust by the City Civil Court at Mumbai in Suit No1965 of 1958; it appointed a Board of Trustees to manage its affairs For the last three decades the Late Dr Rafiq Zakaria an eminent scholar-politician, was its Chairman After his demise Mrs Fatma Rafiq Zakaria has been appointed as the Chairman The College bears testimony to the foresight and vision of the late chairman Dr Rafiq Zakaria in recognizing the need for a college of education that would focus on training teachers of Urdu and English medium and imbibe in them the spirit of secularism and national integration The College is highly acknowledged, and is considered to be among the best institution of its kind in the state today with its track record of high attainments in academics
