Brahmonjharilo Mahavidyalaya

Brahmonjharilo Mahavidyalaya (BM), Phulnakhera was established in 1981. It is an affiliated and private college in the rural area of Raipur. The aim of the college is to impart proper knowledge to the educated youth in the field of arts and also to enable the prospective teacher to understand the nature, purpose and spirit of Education. The College is involved to give the trainees to meet the future challenges in the field of Education and develop communication skills and use modern information technology for School Purpose. The college provides undergraduate courses in arts and commerce. The college is affiliated to Utkal University, established in 1943. This is the oldest university in Orissa and the seventeenth oldest university in India. The University was started under the Utkal University Act, 1943. It is a teaching-cum-affiliating University that has produced some of the best brains in Orissa. There are at present twenty-six Post-Graduate Departments located in the University Campus for studies and research in various disciplines of Science, Humanities, Business Administration, Social Science and others. It has the largest space amongst all universities in Bhubaneswar and is also the most centrally located one. It has one of the highest numbers of educational departments in India and is also the state largest in this respect. The University has now the jurisdiction over 9 districts, viz, Angul, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh and Puri and is spread over an area of 24,973 sq. kilometers catering to the needs of higher education of a population of more than 110 lakhs.Utkal University has been recognized by UGC and it also has the membership of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
